SESSION NOTE ~
Pique was all about the treats... which really wasn't different than any other time I've visited with her - but the studio floor was littered with crumbs of Stella & Chewy's Surf n' Turf. I didn't mind - I knew the next dog (or my dogs) would vacuum them up, no problem!
I had chosen to use studio lights instead of a flash or strobes as I know the flash can make nervous dogs more nervous - and I was already asking a lot of these guys. But Pique did not like the lights - at all. So I ended up turning them off and went with whatever natural light was available so I could get her into position... and then I sprinkled the floor with treats and there you have the photo above.
Not quite as sharp as I'd like, but as I've said before, sometimes I had to manage my own expectations in order to limit the stress on the dogs.
I met Pique in July 2013 when she arrived at the Victoria SPCA - and I'm lucky to have been able to keep in touch with her and her family since. Here's a blog post I did at Pique's house when I delivered a copy of my book Meetings with Remarkable Dogs to her family.
Pique is a survivor of the Whistler 2010 cull.
