An puppy party and celebration to showcase the combined rescue efforts of some amazing rescues here in BC!
More photos here! (scroll down to the bottom of the page) It was kind of like a movie with a cast of characters and each dog had his or her role to play. The retired sled dogs have their parts, but they like to improvise, pulling things out of their bag of tricks to surprise us humans who are clearly playing the supporting roles. Scenes included showing complete interest in a dog they've been indifferent to at every other gathering, making a break for the exit and running down the street, and letting small children into their personal space. The lone Shiba Inu and Weimaraner were like the method actors. They knew their roles, they embodied them and played them to perfection. The Shiba standing still and pretending he wasn't hearing our calls, waiting until we were just a few feet away from him, ready to attach his leash and off he'd run back to the group - laughing at us, I'm sure, on inside because of our inability to trust he knew his role. And the Weimaraner... well he is just a pup so he's still perfecting his comedic timing. Whatever they did, we were mesmerized by their performances. And I'm pretty sure I'm not alone in saying that if it were up to me, we'd be handing out Oscars to each and every one of them. So without further ado, here are some stills from the new year's day performance at the uvic dog park: cola jeff eagle niv + jeff niv cola colby daffy cola ben
